7. Is your furniture "Green"?

Answer: At Vermont Tubbs everyday we make strides in being conscious about the environment and keeping it clean. A few of the steps we have taken to become more green or a "shade of green" are:

  • A. We harvest all of our lumber from locally managed mills within 150 miles of our facility. These mills do NOT clear cut and for every tree cut
down another is planted. Regenerated growth.
  • B. We use sustainable woods............ash and birch.
  • C. We use a water based glue.
  • D. Our finishes do not contain formaldehydes or metallics.
  • E. Our packaging is biodegradable and renewable.

8. What wood species does your product come in?

Answer: We use primarily white ash and some collections are available in birch.

9. Is your furniture solid wood?

Answer: We use a combination of solid wood and wood veneers.

10. What is veneer?

Answer: Wood veneer is used to give furniture or other materials a fine wood grain appearance.

It is also used to make plywood, which consists of thin layers of wood veneer glued together. Wood veneer comes in very thin sheets, less than 3 mm thick, and is made of various species of finished or unfinished wood.

Wood veneer can be made from the wood of various species of trees. It is often made from species such as cherry, oak, maple, ash and birch, as well as rare and exotic species such as Brazilian rosewood and eucalyptus.

There are hundreds of different types of wood veneer available.

When wood veneer is applied properly, it gives a piece the illusion that is made entirely from the same type of wood as the veneer.

11. On what area of your furniture may veneer be used?

Answer: Some of our collections use wood veneer on the side panels and on the door fronts. For example you would not want to use a solid piece of wood on an armoire door front as it would have a tendency to warp. Veneer does not warp and is used more commonly in this type of application.

12. Can you tell me where to find the exact collection I'm looking for so I may see it in person?

Answer: Please go to the contact us area and we will advise. We cannot promise to have the "exact" set you want to purchase on a retailers floor but can certainly suggest where to go so you can see the quality if we are unable to send you to the exact set.
